Imants Gorbāns was born in Latvia in 1963. In 1986, he obtained a diploma as a physics and mathematics teacher, worked as a physics teacher for 14 years, then as a computer science teacher and deputy director for IT issues for 5 years. Since 2003 till 2021, lecturer, then assistant professor and researcher at the University of Latvia, Faculty of Computing. Since 2019, assistant professor at Riga Technical University, Faculty of Computer Science, Information Technology and Energy.
